Organic, Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade certification each covers a defined standard and scope. Organic certification verifies compliance with the named organic regulation for the certified operation. Rainforest Alliance certification covers farm and supply-chain requirements on environmental, social and responsible-business practices. Fairtrade’s coffee standard covers trade, production and business requirements, including applicable minimum-price and premium mechanisms. None of these certificates establishes cup quality, screen size, defects or present availability; each lot still needs its own specification, traceability and cupping review.
Atlas asks buyers whether a certificate is required by their customer, regulator or retail partner before sourcing begins. The answer determines which certificate, certificate-holder and chain-of-custody evidence must be requested. Certificate scope, validity, lot linkage, price and availability must be confirmed for each transaction; certification is an additional specification field, not a substitute for origin, processing, crop year or quality control.
